Man, we all have very different tastes in books. I personally liked Rot & Ruin, and it's sequel, Dust & Decay. It's definately not the best zombie book, but then again there is no such thing. P.S, I loved World War Z. The movie was pretty good, and I understand why they changed the format.

Meh, I dunno. I think World War Z the movie had waaay too many inconsistencies to be remotely plausible like the book was. Still, great book. Max Brooks really is crazy about zombies. In a tv show where the pit zombies versus vampires, he was really aggressive when anybody doubted a zombie's power lol

I liked Rot & Ruin and Dust & Decay as well. I don't usually read Zombie books, so I didn't have much to compare it to. I should probably read the 3rd book soon...

The same author of Rot and Ruin made a book about zombies and some guy called Joe. It was actually kind of fun, even though I forget the title of the work.

What I thought was kind of meh was that the MC was a typical American action hero; he was badass, powerful, knows how to handle many weapons and martial arts, says cool one liners, and chicks fall over him like drunk bowling pins.
Incidentally, I read Ghost, by John Ringo. Same thing, typical actiony MC.

It looks interesting. I'll try to read it after I'm done with this disturbing Alex Cross book.

I really like the "His Dark Materials" series (Golden Compass and what not). It is a nice blend of science and fantasy.

I don't think I've seen the movie. But as almost every movie based off of a book has proven, it probably wasn't as good.

Yeah I felt that the actors were a but plastic and the story either wasn't presented very well, or it was a mix of "hey lol, talking bears! Now look! Witches! And now Antarctica!" It didn't feel very cohesive

Has anyone read the Mortal Instruments series? It's not that I like them, I need to vent how horrible they were. I have no idea how it got a movie.

My ex made me read them, the series wasn't too good. It's basically a girl that discovers she belongs to a group of dudes called shadowhunters that go around backflipping monsters to death. It already starts off badly since its from the perspective of a weak main character that pretends she's strong (cough cough twilight), and it just kills itself with all the forced romance. Like this:
MC and head shadowhunter, Jayce (or whatever) are supposedly meant to be MC's friend, who later turns into a Jewish vampire, has feelings for MC MC feels her relationship with Jayce can't be because she suspects they're siblings MC starts going out with shadowy guy that turns out to be her actual sibling MC then goes for her vampire friend MC then realizes she loves Jayce, and runs back to him
This kind of drama is unnecessary and if you read it, it's actually very weak and only shows that the MC is an airhead. And this was only ONE of the dozens of relationship in that book. It isn't an action book with romance, it's a romance book with like, three fight scenes.
Tl;dr: if crappy teen romance is up your alley, read this.
