I don't understand it. I read they synopsis on Wikipedia and I don't get why people are slavering over this.
Pointers, anyone?

It's a corny story made by an awesome guy.
People love corny stories...

I like the author, John Green. He is pretty cool and he does hilarious videos on YouTube.

It seems like a book filled to the brim with clichés (death of a main character's love interest, love story with people who are sick, etc, etc.) so it guarantees a smash with idiot teen fangirls.

Sounds as painful as Twilight. Luckily I respect the author, or I'd make fun of it like I do with Twilight.

To be fair, everything is cliche now. If it's a good idea, it has been used before. So anything that's not a cliche is a horrible idea.

Maybe I'll read it an see for myself. Even if its bad, I'll probably enjoy criticizing it. I mean, I met a girl that said it made her "understand more about life". Dunno how reading about a love story between a crippled dude and a sick girl managed to teach you that, but okay.
Oh, and has anybody seen the guy from Thug Notes? dude, I swear to you, this guy saved me in AP Lit. WATCH HIM

I mean, I met a girl that said it made her "understand more about life". There's an easier way of doing that. It's called living.

I thought TFiOS was inspiring. It's about a young couple that dare to love each other even though they know their love won't last. Kind of like a "flame that burns twice as bright lasts half as long" kind of thing

I agree with that, but I;m still not sure. I feel like its a bit cliche- two lovestruck teens that die at the end. All that is different is that they realize their mortality. I suppose the true defining factor will be to see if the author can make me feel emotion for the characters. If he can do that, the book has done its job and it's good in my eyes.
