Quite honestly I must say I fell in love with Death Note from the first chapter. There's something alluring about the whole death note concept, and the authors definitely presented it well. However, the best part isn't the part that draws you in- its the part that makes you stay. The story is so complex and beautifully written that I just can't compare it to anything else out there.
I specially loved the ending. I hated it at first, because who wants to see such a badass character die? But later it dawned on me that if Light had won.... He would have become the same monster he was trying to erase all along. Post your thoughts below!

You did not just make another Death Note post. BANNED! JayKay, I guess your explanation for the ending is right, but I felt like maybe a neutral ending would have made me happier. Also, I kinda think the whole "N" thing dragged the story on too long.

Yeah, N really blindsided me. I had no idea that L had backups of himself....
But anyways, I'm glad Light was stopped. He was a great guy, but too idealistic and ruthless. Here we were being happy and all now that Misa wanted to become his girlfriend, aaaaand he's using her as a disposable Manchurian candidate. WTF, Light??
