So yesterday I made a post on FJ about avatar and it got a lot of comments. Most of the people were debating which element to choose irl, and the applications that made it useful. I was hoping you guys would have some ideas about what you'd like to bend and see where our goes from there

You're making me choose?! YOU MONSTER. Fire. Because they're OP. I'm stuck between water and earth. Earth- metal bending, terraforming, real world applications (build stuff, get cash) Water- healing, water related stuff (swim better, prevent floods, etc), bloodbend, and sell your skills (will heal for money) I wish I could choose both but I can't

Putting it that way, I'd choose earth. Metal bending is the most useful bending type ever, and that's not counting the rest of the benefits from earth bending. Metalbending=never get shot
I'd love to be Magneto heh heh

Or I can, like, move out the way.

I'd arm bend. I would run up to people and brake their arms.
Hmmmm. I'd probably be a fire bender, because about 3 years ago my friends and I went onto a modded Minecraft multiplayer server with a "Bending" plugin and I remember being a fire bender and it was totally superior in every way to my friends.

Urban, this is the worst thing I have ever had to do. Any type of bending has lots of pros and few cons. And fire could beat Earth with lightning. We should really choose bendings for the main form. Every type of bending has a main form and one or more subforms. Water - Blood Earth - Metal Fire - Lightning Air - Storms(?)
And in the TV show, they don't even use their bending to the fullest extent. With what we know about the universe, and the power to control a basic element, we could do things a hundred times greater than what a skilled bender from Avatar could.

I was just thinking about it, and in today's age earthbenders and firebenders are so much more powerful. Earth has metal (by now a technique to bend pure metal should have been discovered) which is used mostly everywhere, and fire has electricity, which can be ripped from power lines or subterranean power grids. For plastics, who would get that? Earth or water bending?
Either way, earth and fire and very useful, but I still think being Magneto _and_ controlling the earth is too powerful.

Well, Plastic is a synthetic material that uses both organic and man-made materials. So it'd require complex water and earth bending.
And in a modern world, water/air bending would also be very useful. Compressed air, blood transfusions, blood clots, droughts, freezing, weather control, air travel, etc...
Plus, all serious benders would be great fighters. You just have to be skilled enough in your craft.

That's true. In all seriousness, air is deadly if you know how to use it. The explosive feedback from a shock grenade and the resulting vacuum can suck a man's lungs out through his mouth. It doesn't have to be so extreme, but could the air nomads simply slice the fire nation with gale wind blades or popped their heads with concentrated air bubbles down their throats?

Or they could just simply create a vacuum around their enemy's heads. Every form of bending has great strength. Whether or not they are used to create or destroy depends on a person's being.
