So since we're all in the mood for debates, what's your opinion on school? It's a topic that we can all relate to. The U.S' school system is known for being terrible, so what would you do to improve it? Does anyone know about The Common Core?

School is good for wasting your time, XD. You aren't 100% sure that you instantly get a job after your school days. The school System in Europe is MUCH better anyways.

I don't think school is that bad...
Yeah, you get lots of homework and its annoying to be basically forced to go to school, but it really is for your own good. I feel accomplished after doing a lot of stuff and its generally good to be smarter.
It also helps establish friendship circles. I mean, would you have met all those people you now know if you weren't all forced to congregate?

Well, if we paid teachers more and actually invested in the schools themselves we would be better off. I visited New York and the schools there look like indoor slums. The books are old and chewed up (not literally lol) and the teachers are pretty disgruntled.

Money would definitely fix things, but the U.S is so big, that that's probably not economically feasible. I guess they'd rather put the money where they'll get it back versus the slums where they have to put a ton of money just to possibly break even.

The only thing bad about the Canadian school system is they forced way too much math. You see, Canada was (and still is) one of the least educated in terms of mathematics in the developed world. The reason for that was: it's boring for most students. I'm fine with math personally, but since about 70% of the students were doing horrible in math, they decided to make math classes longer and the work harder. So that made us students even more bored of math. And the grades got lower and lower as they added on more and more math time. So now, I have about 1/2 my day devoted to math (I'm counting homework). It's crazy.

1- Steal powdered milk during break and bring it to Class... 2- Squash it on your Table and Draw a Line!... 3- Pretend it's Cocaine, chafe your eyes... Make them more red... Owh What The Heck!, it's Self-Explanatory...

I enjoy school, but only when they teach something worthwhile or interesting. I understand it has to be obligatory, so not complaining there. I only wish America would invest more in education than dumb little wars in some godforsaken desert.
